What is Show quality / show prospect ?
It is a pup that we have evaluated and feel it has the right structure to be able to take into the conformation show ring . Not allways what was considered to be a show prospect will turn out once it is fully matured to actually be of the quality that it can compete suggestfully in the show ring. That is when we place it into a pet home or decide it has attributes that we want to incorporate into our breeding program.
What is Pet Quality ?
Pet quality are the pups that after evaluating, we feel do not have the right structure to bring on and grow out for the show ring. There is nothing the matter with them to not make a happy pet but structurally they are lacking what is needed to compete in the show ring sucessfully. These are the pups that we place in pet homes on a spay/neuter contract to be just that a loving pet.
Both show prospects and pet quality come from the same litter.
Important Clarification on Placement of our Dachshunds
We reserve the right to refuse selling and placement of any of ours.
Placement is done with the most care if it is a show prospect or a pet.
We do not place any of ours into homes with full breeding rights, unless it is into an active show home with verifiable references.

On the hunt for that perfect little pup?
Browsing the Internet and confused by all the breeders?
Here are good guidelines to consider when looking for a pup over the Internet:
Why are they breeding?
What is the breeders goal for breeding?
Has the Breeder spend time to learn the Breed Standard?
Good, sign for their knowledge of the breed is participation in exhibiting their Breeding Stock at a conformation show suggestfully.
What is in a Pedigree?
O.K. You only want a pet but wouldn't you want to get the best you can in a pet?
What is wrong with having a pup coming from a Bloodline that has Champions in the Pedigree? Nobody should settle for less than a good sound pup that is a good representative of it's breed.
What about prizing?
Well be asured that a pet quality pup from a show home is reasonable. In most cases a pup will not be anything more than what you would pay from a questionable breeder or worse yet for a pup from a pet store.
Why we have mentioned Pet Store Puppies, we would like to discourage the buying of puppies from a pet store.
So you fall in love with that poor little puppy that sits in the corner?
Well, don't! You want to feel sorry, feel sorry for the parents that are still left sitting in the Puppy Mill that are been bread like crazy, most do not know human touch get hardly enough to eat and live their lives in a crate running on wire all their lives. It is a never ending circle that can only be stopped, when people stop buying from those pet stores. It is as simple as that no demand no need for Puppy Mills.
If you are not sure about what we are talking about all you need to do is punch the word Puppy Mills in any old Search Engine and the answers you will find. So when you do this please be careful some sites have images that are not suited for weak stomaches
Other tips include talking to breeders go with your instincts. Something doesn't sound right or doesn't feel right, well don't deal with that breeder.
Asked questions and be ready to answer questions.
Other pointer is registration papers. The only legit Registry is A.K.C. full name The American Kennel Club. There are a lot of want to be registration that have gotten floaded by puppy mills and back yard breeders because they couldn't or didn't want to complie to the Rules and Regulation set fourth by the AKC including DNA Parents Verfication Program to insure the ingredity of Pedigree's.
Please make sure that the parents of selected pup are indeed registered with the AKC and therfore eligable to be registered. AKC offers a lot of activities that a pet can participate in, to earn titles, just for fun, for both People and Dogs.
